Ready to start Voting on Monday? Avery Contest Begins May 7th

We are excited to announce Henry Elementary School has entered the Avery Give Back to Schools Contest for our second year that could benefit our school if we stay in the top 5 voted schools! Last year there were over 8,000 schools entered into this national contest and we were voted #1 in the NATION with over 44,000 online votes! Can we do this again for our students at Henry Elementary? We need your support each day to vote for Henry Elementary School because many others entered in this contest have over 1,000 students in their elementary school. Henry Elementary is one of the smallest elementary schools in the Franklin County public school system and has only 200 students so we need everyone in the community to help us vote with all their available email addresses. Everyone with an email address can vote and if you have more than one, they can all be used. Please ask relatives, neighbors, co-workers, and friends to help support Henry Elementary each day and vote. It only takes a few seconds each day! Begin voting at www.avery.com/giveback on Monday, May 7th at 3am. It will run until September 14, 2012.

This year Avery has made it bigger and better!

Grand Prize for top 5 VOTED SCHOOLS**
**$10,000 worth of Avery School Supplies (School will select Avery supplies they want)
****  25,000 Bonus Box Tops (which is $2,500 for Henry)
****  $1,000 worth of gift cards
*25 RUNNER-UP schools will receive:
****  10,000 Bonus Box Tops (which is $1,000 for Henry)
AND
*10 randomly selected schools with over 100 votes will be
****awarded 5,000 bonus Box Tops

If you have any questions or would like a PDF file to hand out flyers please email henryboxtops@yahoo.com or we will have flyers available in the front office of Henry Elementary School or at Frank’s Pizza in Rocky Mount!  Our win this year was a great achievement for our small school and the benefits of it are still being used for this year and our next. Can we give Henry another big boost?

Boys VS. Girls Box Tops Contest is Heating Up!

Henry Elementary School Box Tops Boys VS. Girls Contest is REALLY heating up. The girls were ahead yesterday by 49 Box Tops but the boys have pulled ahead once again with a huge lead again of 192 Box Tops!! Our totals for today are boys, 2,371 and girls, 2,179. Bobcats, you are really showing your spirit for Henry Elementary School and I hope you enjoy your arm bands and wear them to remind everyone you are collecting Box Tops for your team to win! Keep Clipping! I love counting those Box Tops.

Mr. Naff and I have been talking about doing a special event soon related to our Boys VS. Girls Contest.  He wants to be the ambassador for the boys’ team and I will be the ambassador for the girls’ team. The losing team ambassador will be subjected to some playful fun by the winning team at that time.  More details are coming soon!

Just a reminder that we are always collecting Labels for Education and Tyson Project A+ labels.  A flyer will be sent home listing all the participating products for the two programs.  Please note labels submitted for Labels for Education MUST HAVE the UPC code or bar code attached to the point value or we cannot use those in redeeming for points towards supplies for Henry Elementary School.  Both of these programs are very important to Henry and we have recently redeemed over 20,000 points from Labels for Education for items for our art class supplies.

The picnic tables have arrived!

The picnic tables arrived on Monday afternoon.   They have been assembled and are in place.  They look fabulous!  The bright purple and yellow Henry colors are eye-catching.  Teachers are very excited about the possibilities the tables will afford.  Teachers will be able to plan special lunches, have class outside, and allow car-riders to wait under the awning.

I would like to extend a very special thank you to Sabrina Greco, Dawn and Tommy Blackwell, and Michele Whitlow for assembling the tables!

Great day for desserts at Henry Elementary on Monday, April 2nd! We had our encore presentation of our talent show participants and they were fabulous. We have a lot of great talent at Henry and they did so well in front of their friends and family! Our Box Tops Pie in the Face assembly was today and it was a blast! Pictures can be seen on Facebook page: Henry Elementary School Box Tops Program.  Thank you so much to Mrs. Flora, Mrs. Whitmer, Mr. Lang, Mrs. McCall and Mrs. Woodford for being our “Pie-unteers” today and I really didn’t think we had students with such good aim… (LOL) Great job Bobcats and keep up the GREAT work!

Spring Break Extended

The regularly scheduled spring break has been extended.  Since we did not use the allotted snow days during the winter, we had five days to add to our calendar.  We have already been given two of those days.  Two more will be added to spring break to give a total of 7 school days out for teachers and students.

There will NO SCHOOL on Friday, April 6th, nor will there be school on Monday, April 16th.  Students will have a total of 11 days off (counting weekends)!  I hope your family enjoys the long break.

Carnival = Great Fun and Great Success!

The turnout for the spring carnival held last Saturday, March 31st was fabulous.  Students and parents alike appeared to thoroughly enjoy the games, inflatables, silent auction, country store and the yummy hot dogs!  The event, sponsored by the PTO, was planned as an opportunity for our students to have some fun.  That certainly seemed to be the case.

Thank you to the Ronda Carroll, Tori Hall, and the numerous volunteers for making the day a special one for the Henry community.  We appreciate the hard work and time it took to make it happen!
