Oh, Christmas Tree…

Students once again met the box top goal for the promotion that ended today, Dec. 2, 2011.  As a result, Mrs. Whitmer will be required to dress up as a Christmas tree all day on Monday, December 5th.  This will include the Rise and Shine show on Monday morning through the  PTO meeting and holiday program Monday evening.

Monday morning at 7:00 a.m., those who get cable channel 12 will be able to see Mrs.
Whitmer, Mrs. Greco, and 3 students discuss the amazing contributions from our Henry community toward the Box Tops program.  We will share the various promotions/contests and how our students have responded.  At this time, counting the Avery winnings, Henry has over 31,000 box tops for this year!

On Monday evening at 7:00 p.m., the PTO will have its next meeting.  Afterward, everyone will be treated to a holiday program by our 1st grade classes.  Hope to see a fabulous turnout!

Family Movie Night

The PTO is hosting a family movie night on Friday, November 18th at 6 p.m.  The movie to be shown is RIO, a rated-G picture.  A flyer was sent by the PTO recently with the information regarding this fun family event.  Parents are asked to accompany their children and bring blankets or lawn chairs to have in the gym to watch the show.  PTO will have some beverages for sale.  They will be providing free popcorn for the event.

Amazing Ceremony!

Today at 1:30 p.m. Henry Elementary held the awards ceremony for our first place finish in the national contest sponsored by Avery Dennison Corporation.  Representatives from the Avery Corporation and Avery’s Public Relations firm were on hand to acknowledge the amazing accomplishment.  Both Mr. deLeon and Ms. Castellaw were so impressed by our school and community. They were able to get a firsthand look at what can be done when a community bands together.

We have been excited by the contents of the boxes we’ve opened thus far.  We know that the PTO will put those supplies to good use.  The office supplies which are able to be used by students in the classrooms will be distributed as needed.  Hopefully, this will enable Henry Elementary students to have their supplies provided yet another year.

Thank you to all who contributed to this win and also to those who attended the ceremony today.  This was a special day at Henry!

Mrs. Whitmer
